Catalyzing Communities is the main way that The Center carries out its mission to catalyze community partnerships to create the long-term social change that will eliminate health disparities. We partner with specific communities–as defined by the community–and use our 4 foundational approaches (relationship building, faith practices, learning, aligning efforts) to get people to describe and build their Loving Community. We expect to see measurable change in the community as a result of this work.
An example:
We are working with churches in Logan Square on a Faith and Public Health Round Table on Childhood Obesity project called Fed by Bread to design conversations that will mobilize congregations to address to social conditions that support obesity as a health issue for children. The conversations center around Hurt, Hope and creating Loving Community where all kids can be healthy. The conversations are designed to build toward a public blessing and celebration of the stories. We are eager to see what will emerge as solutions to childhood obesity as the community members share their stories and connect at a deeper level.
